The Big Chill summer festival celebrates another glorious weekend in the lush surroundings of Eastnor Castle deer park in the Malvern Hills. One of the country's most relaxed festivals, it continues to attract the biggest names in laid-back dance music.

Every year the Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival presents top-quality performers in venues around the city. Founded in 1978 when jazz guitarist Mike Hart booked a weekend of bands, it is now the longest-running jazz festival in the country.

As one of Britain's greatest artists, Henry Moore (1898-1986) carved the way in 20th-century sculpture. The Tate Britain's major exhibition presents over 150 of his seminal works, from wood carvings and stone sculptures to a selection of bronzes and drawings.

Nottingham's largest outdoor festival features live music, street theatre and fabulous fireworks. The Riverside Festival attracts 100,000 visitors to Victoria Embankment every year, embracing the city's communities during three days of colourful entertainment.

In honour of its most famous outlaw, Nottingham holds an annual Robin Hood Festival in Sherwood Forest. Throughout the week visitors are entertained by jugglers and jesters, strolling minstrels and street theatre performers, a falconer and experts in medieval combat.
