Housed within a fine Roman-style building built in 1824, Perth Museum and Art Gallery is one of the UK's oldest museums. The Perthshire Herbarium consists of around 14,000 pressed plants from the region and the art collection contains over 8000 pieces.

St John's Kirk

The first mention of St John's Kirk dates from 1126. It is Perth's oldest standing building and one of the most important parish churches in Scotland. It was the site of John Knox's famous sermon against idolatry in 1559.

With the current Earl of Mansfield a keen orchid collector, Scone Palace hosts its annual Orchid Festival every August. Including displays by top nurseries and suppliers from around the country, the festival complements the Earl's own collection, begun in 1971.
