One of the few remaining 1930s lidos in the country, Guildford Lido in Surrey is a heated Olympic-sized swimming pool that proves popular every time the sun makes an appearance. There is also an onsite gym.

The British Science Festival offers Europe's biggest celebration of science, engineering and technology at the University of Surrey in Guildford and other venues across the county. The festival week features talks, debates and hands-on and interactive activities.

GuilFest

GuilFest brings more laid-back and friendly summer fun to Guildford's Stoke Park. Attracting around 20,000 revellers per day, entertainment is varied but accessible, while the festival is considered one of the most family friendly in the UK.

Stoke Park

Guildford's Stoke Park is a landscaped Victorian-style garden with plenty to keep you amused on a sunny day. There's a specially-created sensory garden, a Japanese shelter, a boating pond and tennis courts. Kids enjoy the play area and paddling pool.

Guildford Castle keep stands proudly (thanks to a £4 million renovation) in its splendid grounds, which are open to the public all year round. Visitors can venture to the top of the keep to enjoy sweeping views of the town.
